Data Sourcing

Every figure on this dashboard is tagged with one of these badges so you know what is measured vs. modeled

Live data pulled straight from the Amazon "Customers say" aggregate in Supabase — ratings, star distributions, theme sentiment counts, and review quotes.

Deterministically synthesized because the source aggregate lacks it — no time series, per-review feed, or regional split. Values are seeded from a stable id and anchored to the real numbers, so they stay internally consistent but are not measured.

A combination — the headline figure is live, but a secondary element (such as a period-over-period change or a trend arrow) is modeled. Hover any badge for the specifics.

Metrics & Terms

Definitions for the metrics and terms used across this dashboard

Overall Rating

The blended average of star-only ratings and written reviews, weighted by volume. The headline number shown on a product listing.

Star Only

Ratings submitted as a star value with no accompanying written text. Typically higher in volume but lower in detail.

Written Review

A rating accompanied by written feedback. These power theme and sentiment analysis.

Sentiment

The emotional tone of a review, classified as positive, negative, or mixed using natural language processing.

Theme

A recurring topic detected across reviews — for example Sound Quality, Battery Life, or Comfort.

Market Share

A brand's portion of total tracked review volume within the category, expressed as a percentage.

Rating Distribution

The breakdown of reviews across each star bucket (1 through 5), shown as a percentage of total reviews.

Response Rate

The share of reviews that received a seller or brand response within the reporting period.

Change

Movement in a brand's leaderboard rank versus the start of the selected reporting period (last 30 days, last 90 days, or all-time). A positive value means the brand climbed in rank over that window; a negative value means it fell.
